On Tuesday, September 20, the Libertarian Party of DeKalb County will meet on the patio at The Famous Pub in the Toco Hills Shopping Center at 2947 N. Druid Hills Road (at LaVista Road). We will gather at 7:00 PM and the meeting starts at 7:30.
Join us for a discussion of the American criminal justice system focusing on the record-setting incarceration binge that has increased the number of Americans under correctional supervision from 2 Million in 1980 to 7 Million today. We would like to encourage a broad-ranging discussion including but not limited to the costs and benefits of the binge and the forces driving the numbers including the drug war, mandatory sentencing and the prison-industrial complex. We are using as a basic source guide the July 2011 special issue of Reason magazine, “Criminal Injustice, inside America’s national disgrace”. Also, if you have any libertarian-themed books or magazines, bring them for giving, trading or selling.
